Using Todd P. to woo rural Mainers

Todd Palin shows up in a GOP mailer sent to rural Maine...making Al Diamon's October 22 column even more relevant.

Jeff Inglis adds:

While the flier suggests that the next president will have control over whether snowmobiling is allowed in national parks, it's certainly difficult to argue that snowmobile access is the most important decision the next president will make.

And McCain and Palin seem unfamiliar with Maine's landscape. There's only one national park in Maine, and while snowmobiling is allowed there, it's pretty limited. There aren't any in New Hampshire or Vermont, either, so any Mainer who wanted to snowmobile in a national park would have to haul the machine rather a long way...

So the question the McCain campaign and the Maine GOP appear to be asking is whether Mainers are more concerned about preserving their legal right to drive a snowmobile at no more than 35 mph on somewhat less than 50 miles of road in Acadia National Park, or about getting their loved ones home from Iraq to go snowmobiling, whether they'll have a home to return to from that snowmobiling trip, or whether they'll have a job that might pay for a snowmobile or its gas.
