Food in Portland = the best!

Portland Wins Foodie Award

From our mailbag: In its October issue, which will hit the stands on September 8, Bon Appetit magazine will declare Portland "America's Foodiest Small Town 2009." 

Bon Appétit Restaurant Editor and BA Foodist Andrew Knowlton says: "This year, it's all about the sea. In our second annual report on the nation's top food cities, Portland, Maine takes the prize for its fresh seafood, local beers, artisanal bakeries, and the best breakfasts in the country."

Knowlton will blog about Portland all week at http://www.bonappetit.com/blogsandforums/blogs/bafoodist. Here's what's on the blogenda:

  • Monday 8/31: Andrew talks about why Bon Appétit chose Portland, Maine and shares some exclusive online-only recipes
  • Tuesday, 9/1: Andrew shares his essential itinerary to Portland including his favorite restaurants and favorite place to stay
  • Wednesday, 9/2: He reveals more about the three things that Portland does amazingly well--beer, bread, and seafood
