Last chance to see Anna with Gypsy Tailwind?

Fans of the original lineup of Gypsy Tailwind - the dual fronting of Dan Connor and Anna Lombard, with Chris Dow, Colin Winsor, Tyler Stanley, and Max Cantlin, should definitely get to the New Hampshire Brew Fest on Saturday in Portsmouth - it'll be the last show with that lineup, as Lombard reports she's taking an indefinite break from the band.

She says she's going to do "some musical soul-searching" and work on getting a solo album (possibly an EP) out sometime in the next few months.

GT manager Derek Lombardi says the band is "very alive and well," and is even talking with Northampton star Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers about playing some shows together. As for what he calls "monster shoes to fill" with Lombard on hiatus, he says the band will rehearse in the next few weeks with singers Sara Hallie Richardson and Amanda Gervasi to see how those go.

Here's what we wrote about The Halo Sessions, GT's debut, and about Grace, and a GT live show (two of which have been for Portland Phoenix events). And here's Sam's review of Sara Hallie Richardson's disc, from earlier this year, too.

yes, she was kicked out of the band for being pregnant.  yes, Dan Connor and Derek Lombardi and two immense douchebags.... and yes, their Ray Lamontagne cover band will be much different now...

I'm with Brendan on that and I'm bummed. Booted cause she's pregnant...try that one in business! To me it was GT featuring Anna Lombard. I wish her well, and hope to hear that sweet voice again.

Dan Connor needs to hang up the cleats.  That band wouldn't have succeeded without Anna. No one ever came to listen to Connor's extremely weak and amateur voice.

Like KidCharlemagne, I hope to hear Anna's sweet voice again. Good luck Anna!

Actually, "Fake Name" is not me at all. I'm not afraid to post on here using my real name, unlike some people. First of all, the accusations that Anna was kicked out of the band are false and borderline slanderous. While there were definitely some heated discussions that took place, not once was Anna told that she had to leave the band because she's pregnant. Anna is an absolutely incredible singer, in fact one of the best I've ever heard, but the bottom line is that she is taking some time to start a family. I respect that to the utmost degree, and wish her and her fiancé the best in that regard. As the manager of this band I feel responsible for the safety and well-being of the musicians I represent. I would not feel good about putting a pregnant woman in a van and trailer for 2 months at a time to go out on the road and tour...it's just not safe. I also am responsible for the 5 other members of the band that would like to continue making music, and in that vein Gypsy Tailwind will continue to record and perform as a group. If you choose not to listen to the new record, that’s fine by me…I get it. I do know that plenty of people will continue to enjoy Gypsy Tailwind records because the songwriting, singing, and musical performances will be just as impeccable as the last two records. As far as the derogatory comments about myself, you seem to know me pretty well, so why not come out from behind the internet mask and voice your concerns using your real name? In fact, here’s my personal email address... feel free to contact me with any comments, questions, or concerns. I welcome them.

    Really Derek?

this isn't TMZ or something.  You can't "represent GT" and give a response to the "public," put your own spin on it, and then thats how the "public" will take it.  you're forgetting this is a small town, people KNOW each other, and know what happened.  These accusations are "borderline slanderous?"  haha, they're TRUE.

you say you guys didn't kick her out cause she's pregnant, then go on to say as the manager you didn't want a pregnant woman in a van....really Derek?  contradict yourself much?  BTW, what big 2 month tour did you have planned? something you planned right before you guys kicked her out, or did you schedule to right after?  a premeditated Anna-less GT tour?

"5 other members who want to continue making music??" you lose your vocal chords when you become pregnant?  I didn't know that....

people obviously know what happened here, and an attempt to re-guide the arguments to try and sugar-coat your side of it is pretty lame.

What's really lame is posting anonymously on the Phoenix website. If you really have something to say and feel qualified to say it, use your real name and stop hiding behind the internet. Furthermore, if you're not in the band and weren't present at the meetings that took place, you're not privy to the whole discussion and what really went down. End of story.

please tell me you are joking Derek fucking for real- please tell this is just some sort of sick hobby that gets you off and that your dont represent Dan Connor as a means to support yourself. If you do its time to look for a new job- Gypsy Tailwind without Anna is a sinking ship- good thing the world needs plenty of bartenders.

I love the logic of that move.  Should Gypsy Tailwind delay its rise to fame for a few months while its lead singer has a baby, or TOTALLY DISPOSE OF ITS ONLY MARKETABLE ASSET??  See you at the top, Derek.

Come on guys. Let Anna enjoy this important time of her life without stirring things up for her. OBVIOUSLY, she's the best and we'd love her to eventually continue with GT. And also let's not forget who wrote the songs she's been singing. Please, for everyone's sake, stop the rumor mill and keep enjoying the music.

Please can we just stop this banter.  I want everyone to move on amicably without any negative energy.  It was a chapter in my life that is closing and a new one is beginning, both for myself, and for the band.  I wish them the best of luck and know Amanda or Sara will bring great joy musically and an enormous amount of talent to the group.  Thank you.

Let me first start by saying that I think the commenting on here for Anna is great...she is an amazingly talented person I love her dearly and wish her only the best!

I feel somewhat responsible for everything that has happened here...I introduced Anna to a couple of these fabulous pepole that have treated her so kind a couple years ago.  Anna is 24, Dan you're NOT...Derek get away it will only bring you down trust me!

Anna you are being far too kind in what you wrote before....you guys made a BIG no HUGE mistake and your way of trying to make it better is by lying to people

Pay for what you've done...take the critisim in stride act like adults and move on from it ...and maybe cross your fingers in hopes that you may not have peple walk out of your next show without her.

Good luck....my real name is Annie Jenkins.

(Can we get some help here Annie Jenkins? Are you telling Derek to take a vacation? Or are you testing out new lyrics for YOUR new Gypsy Tailwind song that you are writing for them?)

How about a little support? No one is getting fired for being pregnant. There is absolutely no need to take sides in this situation...why don't we just continue to be supportive of both Anna and Gypsy. This doesn't mean that music will stop for her...I have no doubts that she will amaze us with a killer solo album. As for Gypsy...how can you be so negative when you don't even know what the new sound will be? That's a completely narrow-minded view...so...come on, Portland...I would have expected more.

Hmmmm, "no one is getting fired for being pregnant"? Earlier, Derek said "as the manager of this band I feel responsible for the safety and well-being of the musicians I represent. I would not feel good about putting a pregnant woman in a van and trailer for 2 months at a time to go out on the road and tour...it's just not safe." That sounds to me like she was let go for being pregnant. Also, since when can't a pregnant woman ride safely in a van?

Blazing beauty hits the nail squarely on the "head".  By the way dan and Derek were wrongly characterized and falsely accused throughout this blog. Further, Dan Connor is a great songwriter who has helped so many local musicians throughout his music career, Anna in particular.  Derek Lombardi has also had a history of helping people and doing the right thing. So, Portland... Don't buy into this BS.
