WGME taken in by WCYY hoax

Let’s just call it a final act of Mercury’s retrograde. They're good-natured about it, and are "going to post an update" to their story today, according to News Director Robb Atkinson, but last night's WGME News 13 broadcast had a very straight-faced Kiley Bennett (whom we really like, and who has been a celebrity presenter at our Portland Music Awards shows) announcing that three DJs at WCYY had been suspended for transgressions over the weekend.

Let's just say here for those who haven't figured it out: WCYY's over-the-top Facebook animosity and the worst-acted fake video in years (see below), and the corporate airing of dirty laundry all over the Internet is fake, a semi-clever stunt to boost listenership during a ratings period.

Not only are they writing about it, they are writing about a network covering it, myfoxmaine.com had it, Justin Ellis was blogging about it, seems more than "semi clever"

The whole thing irritated me.  Are they that desperate?  And apparently the dj's didn't mind lying to their friends, because all of them had postings all over their Facebook pages wishing them the best and showering them with support.  Seems slimy.

Yea after this crap I am not going to even bother with them....All they do is play the same scripted playlist anyway, and play new songs to death.  It's time for a new rock radio station in Portland.
