Best Therapist...Ahem, We Mean "Stylist"

In this recession, we're begrudgingly learning the art of cutting corners. But since we refuse to let our beauty or mental-health needs go unsatisfied even as our budgets shrink, it's good to know stylists who are also talented at lending a loving ear during appointments. Dealing with unruly curls takes talent, but we're prepared to canonize those who can deal with us kvetching about break-ups, make-ups, and job woes on a monthly basis. Though they don't charge by the hour, Katy Brown and Sara Kurpeski from Liquid Hair Studios (640 Tremont Street, Boston, 617.425.4848) do great double-duty as stylists and therapists: they've even coached some STUFF staffers through tough splits while helping our exes do the same (true talent!). They don't normally teach psychiatry at cosmetology school, but we're grateful for Freuds who fringe.
