More on Powell: why no stumping?

At Politico's The Arena, Northeastern professor Alan Schroeder asks a good question that I haven't seen posed anywhere else:

Colin Powell's endorsement knocks the legs out from under the "pals around with terrorists" argument. But if Powell is willing to endorse Obama, shouldn't he also be willing to campaign with him?

 Thoughts, readers?

Colin Powell has always fashioned himself above the political fray.  Plus he went out of way to express how much he admired John McCain and how close the two have been.  They even showed a clip on Meet the Press of him saying he loved John McCain. So I am not surprised Powell won't be joining Barack on the stump.  Still, his endorsement of Barack was gargantuan -- Barack could just take excerpts of Powell's appearance this morning on MTP and run them as political ads.

oh how nice of the general, yet the endorsement is neither courageous or necessary. early-on support is usually what helps. joe biden never endorsed the junior senator from illinois and look what he got. so perhaps 'change' is in the air, and just perhaps mr. powell finally decided to come down on the right side of history, given that debacle at the u.n. and all. now, where's condi?
