New in the Phoenix: WEEI.com gets serious

In which I discuss the site's transformation from sports-media afterthought to force to be reckoned with.

I find weei.com very hard to read. the stories don't seem like they are edited, the web site is very scattered. I think weei.com believed it could just hire some a-list talent and throw what they have on the site. that may be fine, but you also need people to edit the stuff so it is reader-friendly. I find that very lacking with weei.com, which is why i no longer visit the site.

Steve, thanks for commenting. In the piece, I note that despite adding a ton of talent, the site is pretty hard to look at right now. They're rolling out a redesign next year--but I wonder how many people looked and left for the reasons you mention.

I agree with steve. you can add all the talent in the world, but if you don't have articles/posts getting edited and if you dont have a clear, coherent site, im automatically turned off. just today, I went on their site, and the main headline was C.C. heading to New York (or something like that). Well, C.C. should actually be CC (he changed his name earlier this year). Yes, it's trivial, but if you want to be a real sports Web site that is going to compete with ESPN.com or foxsports. com(or locally with the globe or herald), these things need to be right. hopefully, it improves because it has a lot of potential.
