Finneran's folly

No, Tom Finneran's not a journalist. But as a talk-radio host, he really needs to be able to speak critically about the powers that be. Assuming he wants to do his job well, of course.

And what does he do instead? Surprise his bosses at WRKO by getting into lobbying--and then, as the Globe's Frank Phillps reports today, enlist the help of a few ex-MA governors as he tries to finagle a presidential pardon.

Time for a new career, Tom.

I'm inclined to suspect this was Finneran's plan all along: finagle his way onto a media outlet where he can implicitly threaten to "get medieval" on the powers that be unless they get rid of that pesky felony conviction that prevents him from being really effective as a lobbyist or politician.

Finneran's a slimy bastard, but he's also cold and calculating...I wouldn't put it past him to have concocted a grand strategy to get back into some form of power the moment the State House door hit him on the ass on his way out.

But really, shame on WRKO for continuing the charade.  Is it really out of line to suggest that they fire Tom's sorry ass and hire Steve LeVeille instead?  I mean, I'm biased because I know Steve and I like him a lot, but - objectively - sure as hell he's a more effective radio guy than Finneran is!!!

it's the weirdest thing to find 'the duke' in that mix of former governors. he was always a stickler for goo-goo government. maybe it's that 'change' thing again, but it's a strange gestalt.
