Homosexuals are as perfectly able to meet and engage in their sexual come-ons as heterosexuals in those venues above. I don't see any need to protect public restrooms as a place for gays to meet with other people. And it's clear from reading various blogs the past few days, that many if not most gays do not see that need either. Sure it's true that in the US we have funny attitudes towards our bodies and towards bodily functions. But most people are not willing to give up the little privacy they do have in the restroom. If Craig had spoken verbally to another person on low tones that would be one thing. But by limiting his communication to physical acts, including apparently, a touching of another person (foot on foot), a person that he had no way of knowing the age or anything else about, I think he violated the public's expectation of privacy, if not committed an assault. Between kids that could be exposed, and adults that desire their privacy, Craig went way beyond the limits. Thank god and Craigslist that we are now much more gay friendly as a society than we were 10, 20, 40 years ago. But along with that, the small numbers of gays that engage in restroom sex need to start getting a clue. Public sex, in a restroom, where kids may be near, where you are intruding on the privacy of others is unacceptable behavior. Public heterosexual sex is subject to arrest as well.
