Calendar Gets Tucked

I won't pretend to get into high dudgeon about the Globe's decision  to bury its venerable Calendar section inside the newcomer Sidekick supplement. But it does seem to sadly blur the identity of what was once a very distinctive and well-executed weekly mini-magazine at the paper.

P.S. --  Media Log continues to hear sporadic anecdotal reports that in some newsstand venues, Sidekick is being sold as a stand alone publication.

If vendors are pulling a scam by taking out Sidekick and selling it separately, wouldn't the Globe be getting a lot of complaints from people who bought the paper and didn't get their comics and puzzles? And wouldn't those complaints provide an easy means for the Globe to bust those vendors? Or is the Globe quietly experimenting with selling Sidekick separately?

More likely, no one is noticing the absence of Kickstand.

Wait a minute. This little news flash would imply there's actually a literate human being out there that would actually want to BUY a copy of Sidekick.
