New, this week, in the Phoenix...

I size up the ongoing re-invention of 'RKO, and divulge the identity of Tom Finneran's almost-co-host.

So tired of the rose colored glasses Gene Burns and Brudnoy references. Radio isn't the same anywhere as it was when they ruled the airwaves. Even successful stations don't employ hosts who practice that sort of populist pap these days, it's a different era. Your political bias prevents you from having a clue about what the core audience for these current formats enjoy listening to. You use rehashed false ratings (face it, you don't have access to the real ratings so you regurgitate the bad reporting from other sources.) In short, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Also, what's with the neverending Michael Harrison quotes about anything having to do with boston radio. Find someone who actually works in the business next time.

Out here in the wilds of northern New England, I'm following the decline of Howie Carr's regional empire. There seem to be varying stories about why his show can no longer be heard on many/most of his affiliates. Is there any word in Boston about why this is happening, and whether it might signal a declining commitment to Carr on management's part?
