Metro Boston loses editor

More changes at Metro Boston: editor Saul Williams has left the paper. The circumstances of his exit remain unclear.

What is clear, though, is that Metro Boston is a seriously unstable publication right now. The paper is for sale; the publisher and editor have departed in short succession, and the NY Times Company recently wrote down Metro Boston's value by roughly 43 percent.

When I say that name, I thought for just a second that maybe the poet/rapper COULD run Metro. But then I was told that this Saul Williams was some pasty, bald guy who  interned at the Herald and it all made sense again.

The Bad News: Metro Boston has already felt the pangs of the cutbacks in its editorial and sales departments, the paper's publisher, Stuart Layne, resigned last month, and New York Publisher Daniel Magnus also left the company.

The Good News: When the Boston Metro finally tosses in the towel; MBTA commuters will spread far less colds and flues and viruses picking up the grungy rag off of the littered floors and seats of the buses and trolleys.

Apparently, Metro made even more cuts to its editorial department this week. How many people does it take to put out a 16-page ad rag?
