Westconnaug lives!

The cause of regionalization hasn't moved forward much in Rhode Island, or so it seems.

But Nick Gorham is trying.

Representative Nicholas Gorham to Host Westconnaug Board Meeting

Thursday, July 10, 2008

7:00 p.m.

South Foster Fire Department Building

5 Mt. Hygeia Rd. Foster, RI 02825

State House- Representative Nicholas Gorham (R-Dist. 40 Foster, Glocester, Coventry), in continuing his plan to study the creation of a new “Town of Westconnaug”, has assembled an eight person advisory board to discuss all aspects of his proposal.

The Board will be holding a public meeting to discuss all aspects of Rep. Gorham’s plan.  All interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Representative Gorham introduced legislation to create the new “Town of Westconnaug” in February of this year. The complete text of this legislation can be seen at http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText08/HouseText08/H7777.pdf.

Rep. Gorham is currently working with the residents of the affected communities to improve both the plan, and people’s understanding of it, with the intention of re-introducing the legislation in January.

Combining town powers will only increase our only already increasing police state.
