Future plans for ProJo being discussed

UPDATE II: Providence politics.

Philip Marcelo may be the heir-apparent to pick up the Providence beat recently vacated by Dan Barbarisi.

----

UPDATE: The details from someone who was there:

No real news. He’s [Tom Heslin] still interim [executive editor]; talk about 5 topics to focus on –– public service; justice; health&education (which seems incredibly broad); breaking news is officially important again and I can’t remember the other.

Talked a little about resizing of web (the physical page width at printing plant) early next year.

Some questions about local priorities, etc

A lot of fudge

---

The long-awaited staff meeting to discuss how the slimmed-down resources of the Providence Journal will be configured began at about 2. I'll look to post details today or tomorrow.
