Crowley's fast start

The ubiquitous Mr. Crowley is off to an energetic start at RI's Future, offering a new weekly feature -- a synapsis of the Sunday morning shows -- as well as the scoop, via Environmental Journal, on some changes at Clean Water Action (and as predicted, he's stirring plenty of flak from the conservative end o' the blogosphere).

Clean Water Action campaign organizer Annie Costner will begin representing Clean Water Action at the State House as former lobbyist Denise Parrillo moves on to a career in education.

Parrillo led Clean Water Action’s Diesel Pollution Initiative for the past 2½ years that successfully lobbied for passage of the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act and helped secure $1.2 million to clean up Rhode Island’s school buses. Parrillo is finishing her doctorate in English from SUNY Binghamton.

Costner joined Clean Water Action’s staff in late 2007 and organized grass-roots support for the diesel campaign. Costner will continue the campaign to reduce diesel pollution by pushing for legislation to require the state to lead by example by using existing technology to clean up state owned and operated diesel vehicles.

Clean Water Action invites friends to join them in wishing both Parrillo and Costner well on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., at Cuban Revolution, 60 Valley St., Providence. For information, call (401) 331-6972.
