Thursday quick takes: weather weenies and more

-- In terms of so many schools canceling school today -- with nary an accumulation of snow yet on the ground -- is it that we hardy New Englanders have turned into a bunch of cringing weenies?

-- US Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a fellow former US attorney with Eric Holder, and someone who has been supportive of Holder's nomination as AG, is due to speak on that during this afternoon's Senate Judiciary hearing.

-- If you're not a cringing weather weenie, you might join the RI Young Dems tonight:

The Rhode Island Young Democrats are inviting you to stop by the Grille on Main in East Greenwich this Thursday January 15th at 7:00PM for a January Meeting; this restaurant is located at 50 Main Street in East Greenwich (map). This meeting is going to be an informal one--it's a great chance to meet the newly elected members of the Executive Board and like-minded democrats from ever other corner of the state.

We are going to talk about some of RIYD's plans for 2009, but most importantly, celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America!

-- Guess Alex Cora wasn't Tito's binkie as much as we thought, but why couldn't we have kept him, rather than this guy
