Like many Newporters, I first became familiar with Ms. Wims' byline in the Newport Daily News. Her departure from that paper has left an undeniable void, and her departure from the Projo will likely follow suit.

From Seekonk to Middletown, Ms. Wims has proven herself to be a consummate professional with a solid grasp of the issues and an attuned ear to the ground.

But more than that, she has been a steadfast and trusted reporter of the news. When I see her byline, I know that I'm going to get an accurate take on the day's events. And for a paper struggling to stay atop the news, hers will be one that is sorely missed.
