Tonight @ T.T.'s: The Mynabirds (50 States)
Part of the fun in our annual "50 Bands in 50 States" feature is unearthing new, up-and-coming acts in those pesky landlocked states that may not have hit our collective coastal pulse. Nebraska, perhaps the grandest fly-over state of them all, is the proud home of Laura Burhenn's the Mynabirds, who hit T.T. The Bear's Place in Cambridge tonight along with David Bazan + Band and Township's bearded wonder, Marc Pinansky. Advance tickets are sold out, but there should be some at the T.T.'s door after 6 p.m. and until doors three hours later. The show is hot hot hot.
As a primer, check the "Numbers Don't Lie" video above, and re-posted below are the deets from our 50 States spotlight in July, the Mynabirds repping the Cornhusker state:

WHY THEM? Laura Burhenn, who basically is
the Mynabirds, may not be the first singer-songwriter to do the
soul-meets-Americana thing, but she certainly does a damn fine job of
it. And unlike many of her more buttoned-up contemporaries, Burhenn's
new album What We Losein theFire We Gain in the Flood actually has some teeth to it.
BONUS BIT!
The Mynah Birds were a Motown band who once counted among their
membership one Neil Young. Burhenn chose the name to pay tribute to both
sources of inspiration.
