Party pooper

Talk about  nationalizing a corporation.

The above is an image from one of the more solid choices (number 15) in the recent “National Review” list of the 25 Best Conservative Movies — John Milius’s “Red Dawn” (1984), a paranoid Right Wing wet dream about a Soviet-Cuban invasion of the US that ends up in a vicious guerilla war fought by teenagers played by Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen and  Lea Thompson. See what trouble a little socialism can cost you?

Milius, a rabid NRA supporter with an arsenal and a bad attitude, also wrote and directed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s "Conan the Barbarian" (1982), in which that sword-wielding, bloodthirsty conservative role model listed his favorite hobbies as, "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women."

In short, there’s no challenging Milius’s credentials as a spokesman for the Republican Party. And so it can only be taken as a further breakdown of GOP unity when Milius said this recently on CNN about the current ad hoc party spokesmen:

"I was watching Rush Limbaugh the other night, and I was horrified. I would have Rush Limbaugh drawn and quartered. He was sticking up for these Wall Street pigs. There should be public show trials, mass denunciations and executions."

So, Rush, feel up to the challenge? Or, to quote another one of Milius’s iconic lines, “You got to ask yourself, ‘do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punk?”
