Did You Know There's A GOP Debate Tonight?

The endless chain of debates continues with the GOP contenders gathering tonight in New Hampshire for Fox News. The big news in the debate is Fred Thompson's refusal to participate. Instead, he cheekily has inserted an ad during the debate and will appear on Leno tonight as he "officially" announces tomorrow.
No one says Thompson has to appear at these forums but the way he's handled this -- as he's handled everything -- is a bit too clever by half. He hasn't eliminated himself from contention by a long shot but he better be really good on the trail and really really good when he appears in his first debate. Those are big hurdles.

Old Thompson chose a comedy show to announce his candidacy as did Sen. McCain (Letterman).  While the line between entertainment and politics has been blurred beyond recognition, gotta wonder why a late night chuckles format would be preferred over a hard news one.

Must rely on the printed page for what was said in the cable TV planned press conference - er, debate. Understand that Fred had an ad on the show. My aging 17" black-and-white Zenith TV recognizes "cable" as a type of sweater or something used to jump-start a car battery. Come to think, jump-starting a dead battery may fully explain why Old Thompson ran a cable commercial.
