As If Things Weren't Going Badly Enough for the Republicans, Alan Keyes Enters Race

Alan Keyes, perennial GOP show-off, is back in presidential politics. This is a move certain to tick off virtually every serious Republican, including the candidates, as he'll attempt to dominate debates with his talk-show rhetoric.
We briefly dealt with the resume of Mr. Keyes in a previous post. This is great news for anyone who plans to vote Democratic in 2008.

Alan Keyes joins Fred Thompson in angling for the affections, votes and campaign contributions of the  religious right-wing Republican primary voters.  The right-wing conservatives are uncomfortable with front-runners Giuliani, Romney and McCain. George Allen - their favorite - was defeated in 2006 and Newt Gingrich has declined the offer to run.  While Keyes is a long-shot to get anywhere near the top tier of GOP primary candidates, he - or Thompson - may emerge as the principal spokesman or representative of the GOP right.

Keyes, an African-American, could easily be a candidate  who freely and openly criticizes Barack Obama without  being called a "racist."  Just as he did in the 2004 Illinois U. S. Senate contest again Obama.
