A Ron Paul candidacy would hurt the Democrats more than the Republicans. His candidacy is all about hatred of the war and the neo-cons.

At tnr.com, poster "gabbage" nails it: "Most of Ron Paul's supporters seem to be young computer nerds to whom "libertarianism" means the right to copy software and music freely over the Internet. They hate the war, the RIAA, and Microsoft. They are not people who have much in common with Republicans."

A Bloomberg 3rd-party candidacy would also hurt the Democrat more than the Republican. He's a liberal who belongs in the Democratic Party, and he would force the Democrat to burn precious time and money defending him/herself in otherwise sympathetic, safe blue state media markets like NYC/Philly and LA.

Wow. Paul continues to out-raise and out-campaign the GOP field, and your analysis is... "this hurts John McCain".

Your head is in the sand. Paul's candidacy signifies something much bigger and more significant than you care to admit. The GOP/conservative standard is being wrenched from the grip of bible-thumpers and pro-war/pro-empire civilians. This is a very good and positive development regardless of next year's election.

Yes, Paul's candidacy does hurt Republicans chances for the WH in 2008. But this is due to thorough and complete rejection of the existing neocon GOP platform by the majority... democracy in action. Ron Paul is just a catalyst/symptom of change, not the root cause.

Candidates in both parties would be wise to heed the libertarian movement - it will only grow in years to come... ignore it at your own risk.

I find your "analysis" to be weak, shallow and blatantly subjective. Try harder.
