Preview of Today's "Potomac Primaries" in Va., Md. and DC: Obama Expected to Roll in All Three; McCain May Be Challenged in Va, But Not in Other Two

The primaries continue on today with contests in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Anything other than huge victories for Barack Obama in all three will be a surprise, continuing his momentum and putting him into the delegate lead. On the GOP side, it would be a shock if McCain doesn't win Maryland and DC; Virginia, like most southern states this time around, appears up for grabs.

Would be interesting to speculate on Mike Huckabee's coming role in the GOP.  He's a regional candidate with intense appeal to evangelical Christians. Machine Gun McCain will likely get the necessary delegate counts.  A whole-hearted endorsement of McCain by Huckabee would result in his own undoing and the radical right wouldn't support McCain on Huckabee's say-so. Bush, in calling McCain a conservative as he did on some Sunday talk show, may be building a bridge that by-passes Huckabee in making McCain look acceptable to Huckabee followers.  Huckabee for VP?  Fuggedaboutit!  The man has an agenda, he's a social and religious activist, and the very limited VP role would have him squirming in his seat. Curious to see how the radical right is re-integrated into this year's presidential sweepstakes.
