Caroline Part III: Gov. David Patterson Continues to Make An Ass of Himself

Was she pushed? Did she voluntarily withdraw? Did she have a "nanny-taxes" problem? Who knows? What we do know is that Gov. Patterson has utterly humiliated a national icon, for no good reason, and seems set after two long months to appoint a senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, who is sure to face a primary challenge from downstate liberals in 2010.

Gov. Patterson is finished as a politician, pure and simple. And NY has lost what could have been a great senator.

Things are looking up for the NY GOP in 2010.

    Steven -

You are absolutely correct on this.

Our very own goofball Governor here in Illinois actually handled the Senatorial nomination process much more adroitly than Patterson.

Not only did he infuriate most every NY Democratic dynasty (Kennedys, Cuomos, etc.), and most of the State's Congressional delegation, he all but guaranteed a nasty primary fight in 2010, and weakened the very ticket he will presumably be running on for re-election.

His nomination process was breathtaking in its incompetence.

(And welcome back to The Tote Board!)
