The Dai family is going to the edge -- where the ocean lives and will attempt to immerse in the next two weeks. Chances are we'll have better luck in Delaware than Cape Cod where we're off to. So if you need moonsigny assistance, I'll be in and out. But I really need some time off......

Sunday's first quarter moon marks a turning point in projects begun on or around July 14. Frankly, this is the first period of my life where the day to day really is an impressionistic blur. Plus, I'm trying to take advantage of a Jupiter return, which is always tricky.
Early birds can hear me on WTAG on Friday at 8:45 am. . . .

Hi Sally,
I’ve been an avid reader of your column since I moved to Boston several years ago and I have to say that the phrase “eerily accurate” does spring to mind.
So my question is about why I can’t communicate with libras. Since I was 21 I have dated *seven* of them (two seriously) and each relationship crashes and burns. Now I’ve met another person that I really, really like, but when I found out she was a libra, my reaction was to immediately hide under something. The two longest and happiest relationships I’ve had (2.5 years and 3.5 years) were both with tauruses. Is that just a better match?
So I guess my questions are whether or not there is there some kind of cancer-libra attraction that draws them out of the woodwork (*why* on earth do I meet all these libras?), and second, why don’t these relationships ever work out?
My birthday is July 18th, if that matters.
Thanks so much for your column and any advice you have,
Elizabeth
Dear Elizabeth -- The Cancer/Libra attraction is inevitable and often terminal. A female Cancer would bring an intensity (possessiveness?) loyalty (defensiveness?) and passion that Libra would not be able to meet on a consistent basis. Libra is a fun sign, good in the short-term but always unpredictable in terms of needs of solitude. Taurus/Cancer is a combo I've seen "sticking" much more effectively, frankly, though they probably wouldn't have the zing of Libra. But here's the thing: You've got a useful transit coming up when Mars moves into Cancer this fall and then retrogrades. You'll be putting out very attractive and decisive vibes romantically, particularly during November. This angle should climax after next Valentine's Day so figure YOUR taste will be improving during a five month period. Thanks for writing -- more at moonsigns.net

A thousand years ago when the first dearly beloved Mr. Moonsigns and I were invited to Orlando for a great big fat tchotchke-dripping junket for the new Universal Studios attraction at Mouseville, the most memorable event for me was that it rained EVERY afternoon. Monsoon-scale sheets of water that ended after 20 minutes adding to the humidity and general misery of that climate. Cut to 20plus years later and this is our July. I'm finally filing all the words due tomorrow because this west-facing office, so lovely in the fall and winter is like one of those home-made foil and cardboard stoves boy scouts make to cook hotdogs in to show that Yes Solar Power is FREE!.
Speaking of passive sources of technology, I've been hearing about windpower and how people get all glassyeyed about getting Off The Grid and all that. Southern California has more windmills than Los Angeles has four-way-stop signs and it's still barely 10 percent of the power output. If that. Now if I could only find a way to hook up a rotor to the mousewheel in little Master Moonsigns' collection of mousies. We love rodents here -- we rescue them from the tom cats, we mourn their passing, we hate the crap in the pantry, but aside from that, we are very fond of rodents. Just not the human kind. Who've been all too much in evidence lately. Sorry, no astrology today. Go read moonsigns or sunsigns.....

My friend's printer chronically messes up double-sided documents.... car battery fritzs because freak afternoon storm means lites left on while parking. . . . freak afternoon storms, what is this, florida?? . . . journeys take longer, vehicles unreliable, misspeaking rampant . . . What time? When? From when to WHEN? . . . I was supposed to be at . . . It was supposed to start at . . .2 cups sugar, 1 cup flour turns into 1 cup sugar, 2 OH NO cups..... And so on. Mercury Rx means all the little communication fritzes that happen in the normal course of activity bunch up like the accordion-pleated road that rises up before the Roadrunner's sudden stop.

Hi Sally,
You got me curious! There must be MANY of us with natal mercury retrograde. I've always wondered if we get a better deal than most during the retro phases each year? This retro is not being too bad to me (KNOCKKNOCK). But then again, I know better than to expect smoothness, or to try new things...
What have you observed for those of us born during these crazy times?
Thanks!
Natal Ninny
Some are MUCH more high function than others. Here's an example. I was walking through Harvard Yard with some literary folks and someone mentioned that I was an astrologer. The poet Jorie Graham said, "Everyone says things go wrong when Mercury is retrograde but I find everything going really smoothly. I don't know what people are talking about." I mulled that over and later looked up her birthday and -- yup, natal Mercury retrograde. My observations about folks w/this placement is that they often have an affinity with people who speak a different language or who communicate very differently from others. So when mercury IS retrograde, you're ahead of the game.
