What's problematical about our Boston City Council is the Staff Director of a hundred or so Council staff. The Staff Director routinely deflects, delays, denies access to Council public records. A better Staff Director is needed to open thing up and make more public information available.

Regardless of where his contributions come from, Yoon needs to raise a lot more money to compete with Flaherty, nevermind Menino. Something I have not seen addressed is McCrea's money. My understanding is that he has some money based off his development business. Is he planning to put any of his personal wealth into the campaign?

Maybe the Sam supporters here should do their research on 311. That was proposed by Councilors Brian Honan and Steve Murphy in the late 90s. I am pretty sure Councilor Murphy has continued to push for it year after year -- despite Councilor Yoon trying to pretend like he proposed it.

I don't think it's a huge deal personally, but I believe the issue with Yoon missing meetings had more to do with his past city budget criticisms while not attending most of the ways and means hearings on the budget itself. It just didn't look good.

Sam missed ONE meeting in 2008 - because he was campaigning fro Obama and holding a fundraiser. You are lying about his attendance record. Only 20% of Sam's money comes from out of state - he has nearly 2,000 contributors from Boston. Get your facts straight - not that you care.

The stuff about Sam not ever attending meetings is just not true. He's the one who's been pushing for the city council to take attendance and to make more records public. In fact, he's got one of the best attendance records on the council.

And what's wrong with changing his name? Many minorities do it all over the country (see Bobby Jindal). Let's focus on the real issues in the city not baseless character attacks.

Sam Yoon (real name: Sang Hyun Yun) who oddly changed his name about 10 years ago, who wanted a chinese only cemetery with city land and city funds? Sam Yoon who on his invitations to fund raisers in CALIFORNIA already calls himself in bold letters at the top of the invitation "Boston's First Asian American Mayor"? Sam Yoon who lied about having the support of the EMS union and others? Sam Yoon who was first against police details but has now flipped flopped and is now for them? Sam Yoon who has such an atrocious attendance record that had any of us showed up for work as little as he had then we would be fired? Sam Yoon who has raised almost all of his money in New York, California and Pennsylvania from "constituents" there who now have an interest in here where we live and vote? THAT SAM YOON or YUN or whatever his real name is? NO WAY!

Absolutely. This nonsense about filling potholes just being measured by how much material the city purchased just goes to show you how messed up they are in measuring efficiency/success. Let's get an administration that count...potholes filled and dollars raised/spent.

Sam Yoon is going to clean up the corruption in City Hall. Have you ever tried to call in for pothole at City Hall? If you don't know anybody inside, good luck. His office takes care of business and it's why he has risen so quickly. Read up your facts boys and girls.

If the city were to adopt Sam's plans for 311 and performance-based budgeting, think of the money that would be saved. That sounds like an economic plan to me. There is a lot of fat that could be cut from city hall if Boston were to operate like a 21st Century city. Sam is the man to move us forward.

I think Sam did a great job and he has some really insightful ideas for the city's future. He's definitely got my vote!
