Confusatron

Best CATEGORY-DEFYING ACT in PORTLAND

For the second year in a row, Confusatron brought home the outside-the-lines Bimpy. “We’re going to keep doing this until we can’t anymore,” said guitarist and lead singer Doug Porter (a/k/a Mixolydicon) as he accepted the award. They call themselves a punk-rock band, but they experiment, too, doing things like working with a Portland Symphony Orchestra violinist on their next album, which is due out this summer after four years of quiet. (We know — this album was foretold in last year's BMP write-up, but this time they're serious. We think.)

The boys are also working on the soundtrack to Ricky Boy Floyd’s upcoming movie and an EP of traditional 1940s Greek Rembetika music done in their own metal style. Considering their repeat win, drummer Adam Cogswell (a/k/a Ultraflam) said, “We were surprised. We were shocked last year too.”
