Best DJ in Providence

DJ Tek

It was difficult enough to decide how to classify acts for this category (pitting hip-hop vs. electronica), yet the masses thumbed their collective noses at us and chose DJ Tek as the runaway winner via write-in votes — pretty damn impressive. Here’s what we know: Tek quickly made his name on WBSR (catch him every Tuesday from 9 to 10 pm at 88.1 FM) and WBRU’s 360, culminating in high-demand at Providence nightclubs, rap shows, and promotional events. And we hear he just got the call to spin at the upcoming Tracy Morgan show in Newport. Tek is indeed “doing it big” (his trademark credo) as owner of VS Jewelers in downtown Providence and founder of the rap site StreetHop.com. Hey, what else can we say? This dude was off our radar. Our bad. Key in DJ TEK at MySpace and Twitter to check his upcoming whereabouts.

You have to go with the full, overall package...not just his spinning, etc., but personality, personal successess, accessibility and everything else that makes HIM who He IS. He's for real...I've known him since he was a kid! :)

Congratulations and keep on doing the good work. and to the people who want to disagree... hes officially on more radio stations than any other DJ in Rhode Island. if you disagree come message me @breedon. Report I'm supporting this one also. I never personally met the dude but he has been consistent.I have seen him mostly at the concerts out here, not the clubs though. in terms of skills the kid is pretty sick.

Report Hey im repping as220 cuz i worked there n we are backing dj tek. he teaches in the streets people how to dj and he has a nice radio show. hes actually a legend at as220 for startin a hiphop program wit kareem caines. he def deserves this.

Report You all are rediculous. Think about this shit, he wasnt even on the ballot this year, but apparently a huge amount of people voted for him. Even the editor said he wasnt on his radar, but the people voted. If you wanted someone else you should of voted for them.
