The Wippets’ brand-spankin’ new disc, In It For the Money, is a high-octane take on traditional roots, with the charismatic Matt Martin on vocals and guitar, Sally Misto on banjo and mandolin, and Tony Depoto hitting the harmonica and kazoo, as well as some serious washboard strummin’ on “All Is Forgiven” and “Deep Thinkin’.” “Always Want More” and the title track are fresh folk-rockin’ numbers, and “Too Many People” is one of many foot-stomping standouts on Money. But the best way to experience the Wippets remains onstage, and chances are Martin, Misto, and Depoto are coming soon to a diner, drive-in, or dive bar near you, often serenading Sunday breakfast folk at the Liberty Elm as well as regular Thursday night visits to Nick-a-Nee’s.
