Connor's Free Fall closes out the show. Since it allows different numbers of dancers to perform it, Ohlsen made a decision to use nine this time. When he premiered this dance two years ago, Connor told me that he wanted three basic images: "Being swept away; tentacle-like limbs going out and back; relationships alternating between urgency and distraction." In the movement phrases, this is conveyed by an arm stretching upward and clasped to the dancer's side; by a leg reaching out and quickly flexing under the body; by a female dancer placing her hands over a male partner's as they enfold her from behind. It's a beautiful and evocative piece.
