• UNDERGROUND MASTER
"R. Crumb's Underground" at Massachusetts College of Art, a career survey organized by San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, offered evidence that the legendary underground cartoonist rivals Rembrandt, pen stroke for pen stroke. From Fritz the Cat to "Keep On Truckin' " to his brand new tome The Book of Genesis, Crumb's awesome draftsmanship channels the raw id (violent, bigoted, cantankerous, kinky, paranoid, angry, sweaty, lusty) of his era.
