Lala Rokh's specialty martinis

Cool holiday cheer
By NINA SCHWARTZ  |  January 9, 2006

These drinks shouldn’t be taken lightly.Ah, December. Endless spending, family gatherings, and unfathomable weight gain. We know what you want, you lush. And now that Persian restaurant Lala Rokh has its liquor license, you need look no further to find that liquid peace of mind you so desperately crave.

The Beacon Hill eatery features five specialty vodka martinis, with unique flavors to complement the deliciously exotic menu. Try the Lala-tini, a Persian sour-cherry concoction; the Mediterano, an unexpected combination of fresh strawberry and basil; the pomegranate and rosewater Anar martini; a sour raspberry number; or a Ciroc white-grape cocktail.

All are refreshing and pleasantly surprising, but be warned: these drinks shouldn’t be taken lightly. They’re not a carefree skip through the strawberry and basil garden, or a splash in the pomegranate and rosewater fountain. These Persian potions will knock you off your ass faster than you can say "estefragh" (that’s Persian for "drive the porcelain bus).

Available for $12 at Lala Rokh, 97 Mount Vernon Street, in Boston | 617.720.5511
