Mulligans

Hope you’re hungry

Business professionals and local sports fans are always buzzing around the North Station area, no doubt working up quite an appetite. Good thing Mulligans — a diamond-in-the-rough delicatessen — is nearby.

Hungry? Try the fresh turkey-breast sub ($5.50), loaded with succulent turkey, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, creamy mayo, and yellow, deli, or honey mustard, all hugged in a soft sub roll. Or order the Pinehurst ($5.75) to satisfy any desire for a whopping amount of tender corned beef, roast beef, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, Bermuda onion, spunky horseradish sauce, and mayo on fresh marble rye. A whopping cup of “There is Nothing Forgiving About Our Chili” ($2.25), loaded with red beans, bell pepper, and chunks of ground beef, will complement any sandwich, and could easily fill an empty stomach on its own.

Innovation is clearly encouraged, considering that a wide variety of “Extra Strokes” toppings (35 to 90 cents) are available, including cranberry sauce, avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, and roasted red peppers. Other sub concoctions are listed under several categories, including “From the Range,” “Off the Fairway,” and “Our Subs are Way Above Par.”

And if it’s breakfast you crave, order from “The First Hole” menu from 6:30 to 11 am. A personal favorite: the Egg McJagger ($2.50), which includes a fried egg and cheese with bacon, ham, or sausage.

Mulligans, located at 101 Causeway Street, in Boston, is open Monday through Friday, from 6:30 am to 3 pm. Call 617.720.4241.
