The Little Pearl’s Boston Caviar Party

Decadence within reach

Thirty dollars per person doesn’t buy much of a night out in Boston these days. It might get you a movie, popcorn, soda, and parking in the Fenway, or a few beers and some unmemorable appetizers.

But should you prefer to host a small groups of friends — 10 to be exact — you’ll find that $30 a person buys quite a decadent night at home.

For $300, Rich Brauman, owner of Somerville’s The Little Pearl, will throw a caviar tasting at your pad. The master caviar packer will provide tastings of white sturgeon from Idaho, Alaskan salmon, American sturgeon and paddlefish from Tennessee, and rainbow trout from North Carolina. Because the eggs are cultured in spring water and harvested year-round for maximum freshness, they’re firm and clean tasting — not soft, salty, and fishy like traditional caviar.

The Boston Caviar Party includes caviar history, culture, and trivia, and lasts 90 minutes plus 15 minutes of set-up time. Samples are served, along with fresh blini homemade by Brauman’s mother, on simple but elegant white tablecloths with Krosno glass bowls. An added bonus: all of The Little Pearl’s caviar comes from environmentally sustainable fisheries.

Available for $300 at THE LITTLE PEARL, 5 Sanborn Court, in Somerville. Call 617.591.2157.
