I missed the burger when I first reviewed MIRACLE OF SCIENCE (321 Mass Ave, Cambridge, 617.868.2806), a wonderful minimalist bar, but noticed it on a list of favorites. In general, this organization does everything impeccably. The cheeseburger ($9.50), a flat half-pounder, cooked medium to order, is no exception. The beef-char ratio is perfect and there’s an unprecedented selection of cheeses: pepper jack, blue cheese, cheddar. This safari format compelled cheddar; it had actual and complementary flavor. There’s no French fries. Instead you get their fabulous home fries. Brewed iced tea ($1.75) was the real thing. The only off note, like the slight error in a Persian rug that avoids offending Allah, was a slice of a freight-car tomato in August.

- BOKX 109
To get questions about the name out of the way, “bokx” is the industry term for boxed cuts of meat, and number 109 is prime rib.
- Sofia Italian Steakhouse
I have to admit I giggled when I got a press release describing this restaurant as being located in the “white-hot West Roxbury-Dedham dining scene.” After all, the space had already killed a reasonably good steak house, Vintage, after a long closure in which it tried to upscale, then ended up downscaling by adding red-sauce Italian dishes.
- Korean Garden Restaurant
Despite being open only six months, Korean Garden already has 22 Internet reviews.

An old standby starts low and aims high.
- Tango
It's not fair to review Greater Boston's only Argentine restaurant right after spending two delicious weeks in Buenos Aires, but it is revealing.
- Ghazal Fine Indian Cuisine
Ghazal provides a variety of dishes that Bukhara (the other Indian restaurant in the area) does not, plus warm service, competitive pricing, and mixed drinks.
- City Table
I'm enjoying this restaurant recession more than the last one.
- Tajine
With visions of spices of the souk, we are apt to imagine that Moroccan food is as spicy as that of Mexico or Ethiopia.
- Gran Gusto
Gran Gusto is an Italian delight located as close to the middle of nowhere as it gets in North Cambridge.
- Shabu Shabu Toki
Yet another way to enjoy the soup/fondue shabu-shabu: quickly cook the meats and eat them with dips and condiments.
- North 26
I never call chefs before writing a review, but if I did speak with Brian Flagg of North 26, I'd ask him if Jasper White has ever paid a visit.
