OM

Pretty inside and out

Despite the name, with its reference to meditation, this is a fashionably loud bar and café. The ceilings feature painted Tibetan mandalas, but they reflect sound, as do the wood floors, the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the occasional painted wall. And the restaurant is crowded, despite somewhat immodest prices. I, too, don’t really like my food this pretty, but it is a valuable experience to have it this way once or twice.

OM | 57 JFK St, Cambridge | Open daily 5-11 pm | AE, DI, MC, VI | full bar | valet parking $12 | sidewalk level access via JFK Street entrance, and elevator | 617.576.2800

OM
As as long time Harvard Sq native I looked forward to dining at Om for the first time (4/14). It was a disappontment. I made reservations for tonight which the front desk staff lost. I was seated 40 min late and my dinner took another 50+min, If you pay over $200+ for an evening(for 2) you expect better service. I would not recommend his place to anyone. much better places availabe in Harvard Sq. make reservations at your own peril.

  •   PASHA TURKISH & MEDITERRANEAN CUISINE  |  December 02, 2009
Even without enormous evidence, the Nadeau family has decided that "Turkish food never lets you down." Louise likes to grab lunch downtown at Boston Kebab House; Maurice prefers Allston's Saray; and Stephanie and her school friends enjoy Brookline Family Restaurant.
  •   GENNARO'S 5 NORTH SQUARE RISTORANTE  |  November 25, 2009
The owners of Caffé Vittoria and the Florentine Cafe took over this venerable tourist trap that looks out on North Square a year ago, renamed it for their son last May, and quietly spiffed up the rooms and the menu.
  •   CITY TABLE  |  November 18, 2009
I'm enjoying this restaurant recession more than the last one.
  •   ARTBAR  |  November 16, 2009
How do we find hidden gems? You can't just look under the radar. Sometimes the hiding place is behind a famous name, as is the case with ArtBar.
  •   JADE GARDEN SEAFOOD RESTAURANT  |  November 04, 2009
Ready for some reasonably priced lobster after years of paying too much? You’re in luck, since a price war seems to be unfolding on the streets of Chinatown, with various window signs advertising twin lobsters in ginger and scallion for as low as $14.95.
