While the quality of L’Animaux Tryst’s output so far is quite impressive and deserving of any attention it gets, Lajoie seems to view the label’s purpose as stemming from a need many of its participants have for creative release. He emphasizes that continuing to make music is his top priority, and that of his friends and label-mates as well. L’Animaux Tryst (Field) Recordings presents them with a unique opportunity to share their hard work with an attentive and discerning audience.
“All of us record so much music that the nature of a limited-edition release that sells out within a week or two is that it kind of forces you to make some final creative decisions about the next release,” says Lajoie. “You’re constantly moving forward with your creative output, so for most of us having something sell out is a good excuse to get the next set of recordings finalized and released. We write and record so much — Bad Bus has four albums worth of recordings waiting to be released, and I’m sure Tempera has about that much as well — and part of the purpose of the label is to just get those recordings out to the world as quickly as possible so that we can move on.”

Robert Stillman's music is like an anachronistic, sepia-toned spin on the fanciful film scores of Jon Brion (Punch-Drunk Love, I Heart Huckabees). Both make fleet-footed, extremely visual piano songs with trotting melodies, a natural fit for an old silent short.

Convention , the opening-night feature at the fifth annual Camden International Film Festival, is a logistical triumph that chronicles a logistical triumph.
