But perhaps all this wringing of hands about our place in the world is unwarranted. After all, America is still the globe’s lone superpower. For now, at least. And we’re rich. Really rich. Compared with other nations, we’re Tony Montana rich.
And as long as that state of affairs continues, we should take comfort in the notion put forth by Rapping. “Given the amount of money that the American media industry has, compared to what other countries have in television and music, Hollywood rules.” And as long as that’s the case, “if you look at the larger picture, we’re still more influential on them than they are on us.”
