Monthly Forecast: November 2008

No! NO! NOT NOVEMBER!!

Yes, it is here. The season of Incipient Holidallying. The beginning of hunker-down-and-feast. The upside is that, as I was telling Hank Stolz on WCRN 830 AM recently, November is ruled by Scorpio, which governs sex, death and other people's money. And we had a Scorpio guy call in that guy who was in the insurance industry. (That covers two out of the three categories).

This means that Scorpio folks will be even harder to read, control, steer, comprehend than usual. And we LOVE 'em for it! Seriously, all water signs are in a great position to move their little markers forward on the game of life. But Mercury is direct and no eclipses on the horizon, so you best make hey while you can. Even Neptune is direct, after months shillyshallying at 21 degrees Aquarius  (that's why Feb. 9-11 birthday people Want To Escape).

As for your hostess, I am midway through a very surprising pregnancy, with a babygirl due at the end of March. Yes, an Aries daughter, in all likelihood. To support this endeavor I am cranking up all my little fulfillment centers. The Llewellyn 2009 astrological calendar (with forecasts by me) is at moonsigns.net, along with the Llewellyn 2009 Moon Almanac (for which I wrote new and full moon forecasts). I can be found most Thursdays at Roots in Leominster, doing astrological tarot readings and analyzing your birth data. This is a drop-in activity, but you can reserve at time (usually around 4:30 or 5 until 6:30) by calling 978-534-7668. Roots, 100 Crawford St. (Airport Road), just off Route 2, Leominster, MA. rootsnaturalfoods.com.

Yours in the cause of a more orderly universe, Symboline Dai

ARIES (March 21 or 22 to April 19 or 20).
Aries is a cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars. Represented by the Ram, Aries love to start (but usually not finish), make great leaders (as long as there are followers), and can be incredibly generous. Famously confident Aries include Marlon Brando, Harry Houdini, and Nikita Kruschev.
Difficult days come on 22-24
Smoother sailing comes on 9-10
The big picture in a nutshell . . .
Venus in Sagittarius for half of the month gives a boost to your love-and-friendship impulses. A desire to spend time with adventurous folks (female, or not) provides plenty of entertainment value. Around Thanksgiving, when Mars moves into Sagittarius as well (followed by Mercury on Nov. 24) your appetite for socializing (and escapes!) sets in until after Christmas. One of the great things about being an Aries is that if you are bored you  can immediately find something else to do. If you are restless, you can escape. If someone becomes less interesting as a friend or lover, you can put yourself onto life's carousel and meet new people. Your problem, as you know, is the dreaded Follow-Through. And this month, you will feel absolutely minimal needs to complete things. Except for those of you born on or around April 6-12. You folks have Jupiter breathing down your neck saying, “just get the damn thing done.”

TAURUS (April 20 or 21 to May 20 or 21).
Taurus is a fixed earth sign, practical and, for the most part, steady.  Ruled by Venus, Taureans like comfort and aesthetic beauty. Famous Taureans include: Tony Blair, Fred Astaire, Duke Ellington and Salvador Dali. Despite this stellar line-up, they're team players, and lead only if they absolutely have to.  Represented by the bull, Taureans are slow to anger, but once riled make formidable foes.
Difficult days come on 24-25
Smoother sailing comes on 11-13
The big picture in a nutshell . . . The half-way point to your year and a month that could find you irritable at sudden changes in schedule (either yours or other people's). With Mars completing its journey through Scorpio, those born after May 10 will find that the “easy task” suddenly gets needlessly complex and that others don't “get” what you're saying the way you think they should. If you can avoid those verbal potholes (“you're not wearing THAT are you?” “You look so much better since you lost weight/cut your hair/started wearing makeup” etc.) particularly November 5-23, you'll be able to cruise into the holiday season with good grace.

GEMINI (May 21 or 22 to June 21 or 22).
Gemini is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury. Represented by the Twins (or Janus, the two-faced figure), appealing Geminis with at least two well-defined personalities are Elizabeth Hurley (forgiving girlfriend/dedicated movie producer), John F. Kennedy (humanitarian/party animal), and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinborough (gruff regal paterfamilias/sensitive environmentalist). Gemini charms everyone with nonstop talk and fanciful ideas.
Difficult days come on 1, 27-28
Smoother sailing comes on 13-15
The big picture in a nutshell . . . Gemini is in an excellent position to do analysis, assess finances (particularly those born June 7-13, and turn on the left side of their brain. Overall, the planets are being really sweet to the earth and water people, but since you're probably the most emotionally flexible sign on the block, you'll be able to find out Why and How Much and When with minimal effort on your part (Gemini likes answers to questions, and usually thinks of the questions others don't). But Venus in Sagittarius this month could make you a touch demanding around your friends – or less mindful of people's feelings. There could be small ructions due to your (unintentional) carelessness Around Thanksgiving, when  Venus and Mars lockstepping in Sagittarius,  your desire to say “I give up” will be strong, particularly for those born in May this month.

CANCER (June 22 or 23 to July 22 or 23).
Cancer is a cardinal water sign ruled by the moon. Represented by the crab, Cancers can be home-loving, deeply domestic, fiercely loyal and self-protective and prone to stomach upsets when life doesn't go their way. Cancers feel everything very deeply, but won't necessarily tell you about this. Well, they will, but on their time. They prefer to move sideways -- frequently. Henry David Thoreau was a Cancer, and a quirky version of the breed -- he turned Walden into a home, but what a home...Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford are also Cancers. So was the Princess of Wales and the current Duchess of Cornwall. “Well-defended” is what we find in many crabbies.

Difficult days come on 2-4, 29, 30
Smoother sailing comes on 15-17
The big picture in a nutshell . . . Another month where the water signs line up to help you out and give you a boost. October brought Mars in Scorpio, facilitating relationships even if you occasionally found yourself thinking, “but what do they REALLY feel.” Cancer's downfall is the – at times – extreme sensitivity. And since this month is dominated by Scorpio, the secretive sign, with a lot of action in Sagittarius you may have people tell you, “why are you overcomplicating this situation?” With the holidays imminent, it's time for you to explore an enormously satisfying aspect of your nature: the domestic goddess or god. Explore your cookbook collection, think about varying your seasonal decorations, explore a different aisle at the grocery store for quirky ingredients. Oh yes, and bake. Travel could be your salvation from Thanksgiving through Christmas, so if you have not planned a getaway, get to it.

LEO (July 23/24-August 23).
Leo is a fixed fire sign ruled by the sun. Represented by the lion, Leos are happy being the center of attention and don't feel fully alive without an admiring audience to applaud their activities. The ready smile (but not laugh) is theirs -- this is the sign of kings, or those who would be. Famous Leos who enjoy their command include Deval Patrick, Barack Obama. Famous Leos who wielded a lot of power quietly include the late Queen Mum and Princess Margaret.
Difficult days come on 5, 6
Smoother sailing comes on 17-19
The big picture in a nutshell . . . improves steadily all month. If you butted heads (or got your mane tangled up) in October, everything smooths out from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Those born August 12 to the end of the sign will have some frustrations (unexpected cold or sore throat?) for the first two weeks of the month. Fortunately, Venus in Sagittarius amplifies your friend-making/keeping abilities. The question you need to ask yourself in the first half of the month is “am I the best person to do this?” whether it's corralling friends for a party, or stuffing the pimentos in the olives all by your darn self.

VIRGO (August 24-September 22/23).
Virgo is a mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury. Represented by the Virgin, many Virgos are classic compulsive perfectionists whose eye for detail may delight an actuary, but annoy the rest of us. Famous Virgos include D.H. Lawrence, Cardinal Richelieu and Goethe.
Difficult days come on 7-9
Smoother sailing comes on 19-21
The big picture in a nutshell . . . Transitional for your sign, but for the most part all kinds of projects should be moving smoothly. There could be trouble in the home around Thanksgiving to Christmas (I'm thinking boilers and furnaces more than domestic discord, and we ALL know that appliance malfunction is way worse!) but before then, you should be your usual indomitable self. You could be in a leave-me-alone mood for much of November and whatever your secret solitary preoccupation is (video games, movies, escapism), going into overdrive with the shortened days will be a temptation. August virgins: be careful not to “overpromise” starting November 22. This can include everything from, “I'll help you spackle,” to “let me organize the trip.” You know you're really good at this stuff, but you may not be the ONLY person to do this right now...

LIBRA (September 23/24-October 23/24).
Libra (September 24-October 23) is a cardinal air sign ruled by Venus and represented by the Scales. Famous Libras include John Lennon, Franz Liszt and Sarah Bernhardt. Libras love harmony, partnership, and are frequently indecisive. But oh, how charming they can be about it. At least that's what they tell us.
Difficult days come on  9-10
Smoother sailing comes on 22-24
The big picture in a nutshell . . . Even steven goes your month, with some lovely socializing and some big occupational challenges for October 8-15 (thanks to Jupiter giving you a slightly dainty but nevertheless undeniable FINGER). Those of you in relationships with Virgo or Pisces may be surprised how outspoken they are this month. Gemini may be a bit tiring – as much as you love them!~ The full moon on November 13 coincides with some water sign action – they're in an amorous mood, and Libra has a partiality for Pisces, Scorpio and even Cancer (though those signs drive you en peu fou)

SCORPIO (October 24-November 22).
Scorpio is a fixed water sign formerly ruled by Mars, now by Pluto, which astrologers still consider a planet, thank-you-very-much, represented by the Scorpion. Famous Scorpios include Prince Charles, Picasso, and Robert Kennedy. Scorps mystify more people than any other sign, mostly because the themes of sex, death and other people's money rule the 8th house, Scorpio's natural home. Charming but not overly sociable, your typical Scorps are charismatic, occasionally devious with an ethical compass all their own.
Difficult days come on 11-13
Smoother sailing comes on 24, 25
The big picture in a nutshell . . .

Scorpio has a fraught relationship with sentimentality and nostalgia. You like to be thought of as perceptive (and slightly dangrous), but at times are overcome by the sheer depth of your feelings. October brought Mars in your sun sign, so if you needed to sever some relationships or put the brakes on a project, you may be feeling some regret. Don't. Mars continues its journey through Scorpio, mostly affecting those born November 11 and after for the month. Mercury in your sign helps with all kinds of communication. Even if you think you WANT to be obscure, others will be prompted to figure out what you're saying. ose born November 1-9 should make big decisions October 15 through the end of the month. Those born on or around 1977 , 1949-50 are having your bigfat Saturn return, and the birthday month could bring new information on just how mature the universe wants you to be. Yes, that's a drag.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23-December 22 or 23).
Sagittarius (November 23-December 22). Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter. Represented by the centaur (half-man, half-beast), Sadge loves justice, and is keenly interested in philosophizing. Finding them at home is difficult -- they're happiest on a long trip, or 'trip.' Well-traveled Sadges include: Frank Sinatra, William Buckley Jr., Winston Churchill and Joe DiMaggio.
Difficult days come on 13-15
Smoother sailing comes on 2-4, 29, 30
Sagittarians get some goodies this month as Venus continues through your sun sign. This yearly transit can bring you special attention. It's a great time to schedule a presentation, a lecture, or some opportunity to be in the spotlight. And the usual pitfalls come as Saturn continues moving through Virgo, basically throwing spitballs at your sun. Those born December 10-13 should be frustrated and misunderstand generally irritable with others this month. But for hecks' sake, use this to your ADVANTAGE! If there's something you wanted to bail on – now's the time! Starting around Thanksgiving, when Mars moves into your sun sign, your assertiveness goes through the roof. Ditto your endurance. Beat Todd Palin in the dogsled race by starting now! If you have to dress up in a fur suit to make your point, go for it.
olate-covered cherries. Your choice, and yes you can do both.

CAPRICORN (December 22 or 23 to January 20 or 21).
Capricorn (Dec. 23-Jan. 20). Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign ruled by Saturn represented by the goat. Caps are dogged, responsible, occasionally blunt, reliable, long-lived and prone to gloom, although admirably steady. Famous Capricorns include Benjamin Franklin, Joan of Arc, and Richard Nixon. Capricorn is having a wonderful Jupiter transit this year, which could help your mood enormously.
Difficult days come on 15-17
Smoother sailing comes on 2-4, 29-30
The big picture in a nutshell . . . Venus in your sign (Nov. 13-Dec. 7), Jupiter still in Capricorn (highlighting the activities of Dec. 7-13) and a Scorpio sun to enhance the erotic potential of everything from long underwear to sharp blades = distraction for otherwise preoccupied goats. You'll have things going your way right into January and it is NOT a time to slow down. The hard work pays off. That's right. A reward for hard work. Can you mountain goats deal with that?

AQUARIUS (January 20 or 21-February 19 or 20).
Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 19) is a fixed air sign ruled by Uranus. Represented by the water carrier, Aquarians are dreamy, methodical, and humanitarian to an extreme. Ruled by the planet Uranus, Aquarians surprise us all with the unexpected move, but they're usually ahead of the curve. Need investment advice? Call an Aquarian, and find out where the money goes (usually not to them, but that's ok -- air signs can swing with that). Famous Aquarians include: Lewis Carroll, Norman Rockwell and Franklin Roosevelt.

Difficult days come on 17-19
Smoother sailing comes on 4-6
The big picture in a nutshell . . . Another  transitional month for Aquarius thanks to Mars in Scorpio, but October's challenges and misunderstandings will be quickly put aside.
For all Aquarians, but especially those with a birthday after Feb. 15, there will be "testing" this month. While Mars squares your sun in Scorpio, you may find your irritability quotient is like walking with pebbles in your shoes. Aquarians are noted for their "above it all" dispassion, but definitely choose your battles wisely this month. Don't get dragged into heated arguments over trifles -- just let those go, and put your dogged energy into supporting the causes or projects that will pay off over the longer run.

And – the really exciting news is that when Jupiter moves into your sun sign on January 6, a 12 month period of WONDERFUL EXCITING AMAZING WASN'T-EXPECTING-THIS opportunities emerge. And might overwhelm you. Job/partner transition could happen, as could the unexp-ected windfall. After having told you guys from 05 to 07 about some GHASTLY astrological transits, thanks to Saturn opposing your sun, you finally get the chance to pursue some very big deals.

PISCES (February 19 or 20 to March 20 or 21).
Pisces (February 20-March 21). Pisces is a mutable water sign ruled by Neptune. Represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions, some Pisces, like some Libras thrive in indecision, especially of the emotional-quandary kind. Well-adapted Pisces realize they need plenty of art/music/poetry in their life to stave off the blues. Frequent company helps too. Pisces rules the 12th house (secrets, institutions), and though they'll take the spotlight if you ask them, they're perfectly happy behind the scenes. And if they are in the spotlight, they'll be inimitable and memorable, and slightly strange (Karen Carpenter and Lou Reed are both Pisces).

Difficult days come on 19-21
Smoother sailing comes on 7-9
The big picture in a nutshell . . .   Mars continues to make a helpful angle to your sun, facilitating all kinds of action right up through Thanksgiving. Of course, we know that your main theme – for months has been Unexpected Responsibility. For Pisces, the original “go with the flow” sign, huge weight has been dropped on fragile fins. Do you swim on or end up at the bottom of the sea (or, floating picturesquely atop the tank). That's what Saturn's been about, and this month, those born on around March 9-13 have a huge mitigating factor that makes life MUCH easier. Jupiter is cranking up your generosity. Rather than “give away the farm” you may have a pleasant decision to make – over and over all month. -30-

About MoonSigns

This horoscope traces the passage of the moon, not the sun. Simply read from day to day to watch the moon’s influence as it moves through the signs of the zodiac.

When the moon is in your sun sign (e.g., you’re a Taurus and the moon is in Taurus), you are beginning a new 28-day emotional cycle. Expect increased insight and emotional responses during this two day period. The moon changes sign approximately every 2.5 days, so it’s influence is intense, but ultimately brief. Now, when the moon is in the sign opposite your sun sign, expect some ups and downs. Here are the oppositions: Aries, Libra. Taurus, Scorpio. Gemini, Sagittarius. Cancer, Capricorn. Leo, Aquarius and Virgo, Pisces.

As the moon between signs, it will sometimes become "void of course," and make no major angles to planets. Consider this a null time and try to avoid decision-making or implementing decisions if you can. It is an excellent period for creativity, unexpected encounters, and quirky outcomes.
