Monthly Forecast: November 2009
My darling baby just shredded the page in the ephemeris which I use for plotting monthly forecasts so there's a big rip through crucial data. Hopefully this will NOT reflect on my interpretation (or maybe I should just get a stronger light).
November brings some difficult and annoying astrology to a variety of you, thanks to a square angle in Mars and Venus, which usually initiates an “opposites attract” interlude for some of you. So if you start acting flirtatious to the kid who makes your coffee drink, or the old-timer behind the messy desk, or the overly-anxious-and-pushy person who usually is SUCH a pain in the butt, figure Mars and Venus are messing with you. And with Jupiter continuing (for a brief while) in Aquarius, some of you (Scorpio, Taurus) may be saying “if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.”
The Venus/Mars angle is most challenging from November 14-24, so be mindful of emerging relationships. They may not last.
Full moon on November 2 in Taurus. This is super for shopping, working with greenery or interior design, or figuring out a conservative financial plan. Taurus moons are excellent for figuring out what you need for security or feeling safe. If a lock has been broken, or there's some uncertainty where you live, replace lightbulbs and buy a pocket flashlight. Taurus rules personal security and banking, and sometimes it's themes aren't just about money.
New moon on November 16 in Scorpio. Ground zero for weird relationships and doing intelligence work. Excellent for spies, and this is a new moon that will encourage all kinds of (useless) gossip. Beware of what you hear if not from a thoroughly credible source. Scorpio rules sex, death and other people's money, so going on a borrowing spree is also a possibility.
Symboline is in 1-D, on the radio with Hank Stolz, WCRN 830 AM Mondays at 11. Weekly forecast improvised for your pleasure.
Symboline is in 2-D in the pages of the Phoenix.

ARIES (March 21 or 22 to April 20 or 21).
Aries is a cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars. Represented by the Ram, Aries love to start (but usually not finish), make great leaders (as long as there are followers), and can be incredibly generous. Famously confident Aries include Marlon Brando, Harry Houdini, and Nikita Kruschev.
What a a super month for Aries – Mars in your sun sign accelerates your enthusiasm and bright ideas, as well as putting a spring in your step. Those born around the Equinox may find new responsibilities loom, as Saturn has moved into Libra, which opposes your sun. For the next two-plus years you'll be at a turning point on relationships and projects that began during summer, 2003 and were operational through summer, 2005. This month is a fine time to be outspoken and deliberate. But expect that the water signs (or emotional folks) in your life will get shy and coy and sneaky and harder to read. Your habit of bluntness may need to come out with those born under the signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. November 25 to December 4 is incredibly positive for rams wishing to transition into a new job, or expand a project. Mercury and Mars align for you, and it's a most effective transit for those born April 8 to 16.
Smoother sailing: 1, 27, 28
Difficult days: 13, 14
TAURUS (April 21 or 22 to May 21 or 22).
Taurus is a fixed earth sign, practical and, for the most part, steady. Ruled by Venus, Taureans like comfort and aesthetic beauty. Famous Taureans include: Fred Astaire, Duke Ellington and Salvador Dali. Despite this stellar line-up, they're team players, and lead only if they absolutely have to. Represented by the bull, Taureans are slow to anger, but once riled make formidable foes.
Read the introduction for more on Venus and Mars but the short story is that this month you'll be awkward and not really sure of your own feelings. Which means that others will be thoroughly mystified by you. Taurus is a straight shooter – you want to do what you do when you are used to doing it, and changing schedules is NOT usually your thing. Welcome to the month of uncertainty, where your confident bullish self gets lead into ever smaller pens. It's not the Running of the Bulls at Pamplona yet, where you're at top speed, in a narrowing passage pursuing improbable quarry. But it's definitely the taunting of the bulls. This month, those born in April should be patient November 1-6; those born May 1-5 will be irritable November 4-19; those born May 5-8 will be anxious November 15-30. If you find yourself getting steamed, your mantra is: “I'm supposed to be annoyed. What I do with the annoyance is MY choice.”
Smoother sailing: 2, 3, 29, 30
Difficult days: 15, 16
GEMINI (May 21 or 22 to June 21 or 22).
Gemini is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury. Represented by the Twins (or Janus, the two-faced figure), appealing Geminis with at least two well-defined personalities are Elizabeth Hurley (forgiving girlfriend/dedicated movie producer), John F. Kennedy (humanitarian/party animal), and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (gruff regal paterfamilias/sensitive environmentalist). Gemini charms everyone with nonstop talk and fanciful ideas.
The fire and water sign people are going to be up in your grill this month, and they'll be looking to YOU to give them direction, new ideas, fresh insights and all the other bennies that come from having a Gemini pal. However, starting raound Thanksgiving and the first quarter moon, you'll be n a zone where you kind of, sort of, don't really, um, CARE about how you come off or whose life you're affecting. Pretty crazy stuff, yes, but look at the advantages. If you've been looking for a way of punching an exit ticket, Thanksgiving to Christmas will provide. If you've got a relationship that's run its course, you'll be MUCH less available. Other folks have difficulty keeping two conflicting ideas in the forefront of their brains, and it takes 20 times that to tax Gemini. So figure November is a month of simplification and those of you born on or around June 8 to 12 will have unexpected benefits thanks to Jupiter moving through your sun sign.
Smoother sailing: 4, 5
Difficult days: 17, 18
CANCER (June 22 or 23 to July 22 or 23).
Cancer is a cardinal water sign ruled by the moon. Represented by the crab, Cancers can be home-loving, deeply domestic, fiercely loyal and self-protective and prone to stomach upsets when life doesn't go their way. Cancers feel everything very deeply, but won't necessarily tell you about this. Well, they will, but on their time. They prefer to move sideways -- frequently. Henry David Thoreau was a Cancer, and a quirky version of the breed -- he turned Walden into a home, but what a home...Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford are also Cancers. So was the Princess of Wales and the current Duchess of Cornwall. “Well-defended” is what we find in many crabbies.
Read the introduction for more on the general planets, but those of you born around the Solstice will find new challenges and difficulties coming your way this month and next. Maybe it's a new boss who not only doesn't know all your past accomplishments and shining attributes, but wants to change a schedule or a system of reporting. Otherwise, you'll find the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Aquarius and Scorpio) are the ones who are under the most pressure. For most of the month, you may find people seem more needy of attention than usual, or just rude about their neediness. Your best cure will be Cancerian: complete withdrawal.
Smoother sailing: 6, 7
Difficult days: 19-21
LEO (July 23 or 24 to August 23 or 24).
Leo is a fixed fire sign ruled by the sun. Represented by the lion, Leos are happy being the center of attention and don't feel fully alive without an admiring audience to applaud their activities. The ready smile (but not laugh) is theirs -- this is the sign of kings, or those who would be. Famous Leos who enjoy their command include Bill Clinton, Princess Margaret, and Napoleon.
If you read this space last month, you'll know that Mars has moved into Leo, where it stays (with retrograde motion) through June. This ignites a lot of passion, ambition and risk-taking behaviors for lions. If you're in school for something, expanding your ability to learn is a theme – so is taking on responsibility for others. But a certain touchiness goes along with this, and with Venus in Scorpio (see introduction), you (and the Taurus folks) are getting a certain amount of taunting. In short: you're caught between Venus, Mars, the Sun and Jupiter, so your eyes could be bigger than your stomach. And as much of a triumph as it is to run down that gazelle, do you really have the pride (in both definitions of the word) to consume? Those born August 1-5 will take big action November 1-15; those born August 6-10 will be eager to leap on opportunities November 16 or so until November 30.
Smoother sailing: 8,. 9
Difficult days: 22, 23
VIRGO (August 24 or 25 to September 23 or 24).
Virgo is a mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury. Represented by the Virgin, many Virgos are classic compulsive perfectionists whose eye for detail may delight an actuary, but annoy the rest of us. Famous Virgos include D.H. Lawrence, Cardinal Richelieu and Goethe.
Virgo is the happy sign this month – Sun's in a good place, Venus too, plus your Saturn transit is over, and despite a retrograde next spring, all the activities, growing-up experiences, trials, tribulations, new responsibilities that marked 2007-2009 are behind you. And as much as you may want to micromanage or be a perfectionist about how things could have been better, frankly, you've done well. This month, focus on new contacts, and opportunities to stretch yourself socially. Being a good listener is sometimes difficult, since you always have some comment to make about what people SHOULD do or MIGHT do – it's a trait you share with Scorpio. The new moon on November 16 signals a three-week period of your sign being at odds with Mercury, so saying the wrong thing (or the right thing at the wrong time) will come easily.
Smoother sailing: 10-12
Difficult days: 24-26
LIBRA (September 24 or 25 to October 23 or 24).
Libra is a cardinal air sign ruled by Venus and represented by the Scales. Famously disagreeable Libras include Eminem, Johnny Ramone, Rona Barrett, Simon Cowell and John Lennon. Famously agreeable Libras include Sarah Bernhardt, Sigourney Weaver. Libras love harmony, partnership, and are frequently indecisive. But oh, how charming they can be about it. At least that's what they tell us.
Libra may begin to see some of the limits and learning curve ahead of them for the next two years. With Saturn newly arrived in your sign, those born near the solstice may be hearing disappointing news, or may find they've lost interest in an activity or relationship that suddenly isn't easy-as-pie. But turning on a dime is a Libra trait, and with Mars and Venus on your side, finding a workable middle-ground in a project will come easily. However, if you're involved with Aquarius or Taurus people, they'll be even more ungovernable than usual. Sometimes Libra needs a “time out,” but usually doesn't quite know how to make this happen, so this month, unexpected partnerships (versus the same-old) will get you through.
Smoother sailing: 13, 14
Difficult days: 1, 27, 28
SCORPIO (October 24 or 25 to November 22 or 23).
Scorpio is a fixed water sign formerly ruled by Mars, now by Pluto, which astrologers still consider a planet, thank-you-very-much, represented by the Scorpion. Famous Scorpios include Prince Charles, Picasso, and Robert Kennedy. Scorps mystify more people than any other sign, mostly because the themes of sex, death and other people's money rule the 8th house, Scorpio's natural home. Charming but not overly sociable, your typical Scorps are charismatic, occasionally devious with an ethical compass all their own.
November is your birthday month (for three-quarters of you), but Mars in Leo is definitely going to get in your way. All your careful planning gets completely overlooked if you have brusque, impetuous, flighty types in your life. With Mars squaring your sun, Jupiter continuing to square your sun, you may be having anxiety about how you mix love and business (or the business of love). But the huge boon for you is that Venus in your sun sign is enhancing your appeal to everyone so you can actually get more with less (this goes for lingerie, also). Venus in one's sun sign is an annual event (usually around your birthday) and not particularly obvious in results. Look closely at personalities, projects and activities in your life. Make the most of lasting friendships and happy themes. Those born in October will be accident prone November 1-5; those born November 1-4 from November 5-15; those born November 5 to 10, from November 10 to the end of the month (later Scorpios have this Martial awkwardness in December.
Whatever career/job/maturity issue went into high gear in late October comesmore sharply into focus in November. If you’re pissy with anyone, especially if you don’t know who they are at the time. No snapping at strangers. Even if they deserve it.
Smoother sailing: 15, 16
Difficult days: 2, 3, 29, 30
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 or 24 to December 21 or 22).
Sagittarius (November 23-December 22). Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter. Represented by the centaur (half-man, half-beast), Sadge loves justice, and is keenly interested in philosophizing. Finding them at home is difficult -- they're happiest on a long trip, or 'trip.' Well-traveled Sadges include: Frank Sinatra, William Buckley Jr., Winston Churchill and Joe DiMaggio.
Happy birthday to you! Sagittarius has an exciting November and December in store and you'll be the toast of the town thanks to Mars moving through fellow-fire sign Leo. Those of you born this month will be active and ambitious November 1-6; those born December 1-5 will be unstoppable November 5-22; those born December 6-10 will be dynamic and irresistible November 15-30. Mercury moves into your sun sign after the first quarter moon, so if there's been communication confusion in November, everything straightens out after that. The three weeks that follow are also an excellent time for writing or editing. If you're putting together a webpage, do the work between November 17 and December 6. Your eye will be sharper and you'll be more efficient with images and communicating a message.
Smoother sailing: 17, 18
Difficult days: 4, 5
CAPRICORN (Dec. 23-Jan. 20). Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign ruled by Saturn represented by the goat. Caps are dogged, responsible, occasionally blunt, reliable, long-lived and prone to gloom, although admirably steady. Famous Capricorns include Benjamin Franklin, Joan of Arc, and Richard Nixon. Capricorn is having a wonderful Jupiter transit this year, which could help your mood enormously.
As much as you SAY you don't like challenges, November will offer some professional opportunities that could be less troublesome than they seem, particularly for those of you born around the winter solstice. This month, it's very messy astrology for the fixed signs (Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo and Taurus), so see the introduction, but these awkward transits could benefit you if you've needed a “kick in the pants” to get things going. Romantic opportunities are strong with those born with a lot of water or fire in their chart and if there's a Leo who drives you crazy (in a good or bad way), they'll be in your face bigtime all month (and, um, for most of 2010 as well). My experience with goats is that they can form tremendously useful partnerships with Lions, but they can also feel taken advantage of, or overlooked by this sign. So your mission is to be effective but also to speak up for yourself instead of doing your customary “disappearing act.”
Smoother sailing: 19-21
Difficult days: 6, 7
AQUARIUS (January 21 or 22 to February 18 or 19).
Aquarius is a fixed air sign ruled by Uranus. Represented by the water carrier, Aquarians are dreamy, methodical, and humanitarian to an extreme. Ruled by the planet Uranus, Aquarians surprise us all with the unexpected move, but they're usually ahead of the curve. Need investment advice? Call an Aquarian, and find out where the money goes (usually not to them, but that's ok -- air signs can swing with that). Famous Aquarians include: Lewis Carroll, Norman Rockwell and Franklin Roosevelt.
Last month, Venus in Leo probably made you doubt the following: who your friends are; who can be relied on; and what food you should be eating. This month is smoother, but starting around the last quarter moon (October 18), Mars moves into Leo, initiating a 6 week period of you definitely second-guessing your own motives and finding that others aren't following through with promises. When Mars is opposing one's sun sign, it makes life difficult and you do NOT want to force any issues this month. “Forcing” includes: “I thought we were going to...” or “Didn't we plan to....” kinds of comments. And on the flip side – others will find that you're more difficult to deal with – even more slippery than usual (hey, your symbol may be the “water carrier,” but I've known plenty of Aquarians who'd just as soon pour oil out of that container and then quietly slither away...).
For Aquarius, November and much of December will be a confusing and maddening era. Usually you're ahead of everyone else, and able to anticipate what should be done (and actually have very little invested in people taking action), but with Mars opposing your sun, plus Venus making an awkward angle, you'll keep putting your foot in the wrong place. And that water you watercarriers are so carefully carrying? Gets spilled here there and everywhere. Aquarians with birthdays in the last few days of January might find the workplace weirdly uncomfortable and possibly risky as some overbearing supervisor or co-worker suddenly decides to change your job description, or pile more sticks on the poor donkey's back. Those born February 1-6 will find similar awkwardness from November 8 through the end of the month. Venus and Mars are definitely colluding in a vehement manner from November 15 through 24. Do not trust your instincts. Anticipate changes of plans. And the upside is that you'll have insights into folks you never would have considered before .It's an “opposites attract” kind of day. Hold off asking favors for now.
Smoother sailing: 22, 23
Difficult days: 8, 9
PISCES (February 19 or 20 to March 20 or 21).
Pisces is a mutable water sign ruled by Neptune. Represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions, some Pisces, like some Libras thrive in indecision, especially of the emotional-quandary kind. Well-adapted Pisces realize they need plenty of art/music/poetry in their life to stave off the blues. Frequent company helps too. Pisces rules the 12th house (secrets, institutions), and though they'll take the spotlight if you ask them, they're perfectly happy behind the scenes. And if they are in the spotlight, they'll be inimitable and memorable, and slightly strange (Karen Carpenter and Lou Reed are both Pisces).
November is a month with mystery for the fishies among us. Starting around November 9, you may find you're attracting attention from folks who aren't necessarily “straight shooters.” As much as you enjoy complicated personalities, and are frequently fascinated by mental cases, the quirky folks who'll swim to your level of the ocean will be feistier than even your hardest cases. What's well-meaning fish to do? Understand that “school's out,” when it comes to emotional order in your life. However, the boost from Venus and Mercury (until November 17) provides good fortune and potential for developing relationships (and you haven't had this much helpful astrology since last January. Think about where you were and what you were doing, if you need assistance on how to use this Venus angle. (It'll be most effective for Pisces with birthdays from March 12-15, as you folks have an appetite for disrupting your life and starting from scratch. Sort of like fishing with a handgrenade and a net to catch the flying bodies).
Starting around Thanksgiving, anticipate a three-week period of being misunderstood (this will be occasionally amusing).
Smoother sailing: 24-26
Difficult days: 10-12

About MoonSigns
This horoscope traces the passage of the moon, not the sun. Simply read from day to day to watch the moon’s influence as it moves through the signs of the zodiac.
When the moon is in your sun sign (e.g., you’re a Taurus and the moon is in Taurus), you are beginning a new 28-day emotional cycle. Expect increased insight and emotional responses during this two day period. The moon changes sign approximately every 2.5 days, so it’s influence is intense, but ultimately brief. Now, when the moon is in the sign opposite your sun sign, expect some ups and downs. Here are the oppositions: Aries, Libra. Taurus, Scorpio. Gemini, Sagittarius. Cancer, Capricorn. Leo, Aquarius and Virgo, Pisces.
As the moon between signs, it will sometimes become "void of course," and make no major angles to planets. Consider this a null time and try to avoid decision-making or implementing decisions if you can. It is an excellent period for creativity, unexpected encounters, and quirky outcomes.
