Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour in Disney Digital 3-D

Oodles of fun

Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus?

TV force, tweener pop star, and daughter of country-music icon Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus gets the concert-tour-movie treatment, in 3-D no less. Half the show is in Cyrus’s Hilary Duff–esque TV persona, Hannah Montana; in the other half, she’s herself. In between, the Jonas brothers do their boy-band thing, and oodles of adoring girls screech at ear-busting levels. The dimensional gimmick works well (the confetti coming off the screen is a rush), and Cyrus and her team of performers put on an energized show, but after about three numbers, the sugary pop routines feel like wash, rinse, and repeat. Director Bruce Hendricks is wise enough to intersperse footage of preparations for the tour and young fans emulating their star. The best, however, are the dads who race in high heels to win backstage passes for their must-have daughters. 74 minutes | Boston Common + Fenway + suburbs
