Review: Yes Man

The correct answer is "No"

VIDEO: The trailer for Yes Man

" 'Yes!' is the new 'No!' " Thus goes the mantra at the heart of Peyton (The Break-Up) Reed's Jim Carrey vehicle. As Carl Allen, Carrey is wacky (the rubberface is back), but once the one-note joke's been established, everything else follows with plodding, mechanical predictability.

After attending a seminar by self-help guru Terrence Bundley (Terence Stamp), Carl is unable to say "No!" to anything. Hilarious! Likewise, the film's producers were unable to say "No!" to blatant product placement. (Say "Yes!" to Ducati and Red Bull.) At least they were smart enough to hire Zooey Deschanel as Carl's love interest, Allison. But despite her free-spirited performance and nice support from newcomer Rhys Darby as Carl's co-worker Norm, "No!" is the correct answer to Yes Man.
