Former PUSH STARS singer/songwriter CHRIS TRAPPER is going Hollywood. For starters, Trapper will appear on a June 27 episode of the WB’s show Pepper Dennis, for which he also wrote the theme song. He’ll perform his song “Kiss You Where You Lay” in a scene with the show’s star, Rebecca Romijn. Trapper will also play a street musician in the film August Rush, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, which is slated for a fall release. Meyers, who stars as a musician, will perform Trapper’s original “This Time" in the film. And Trapper’s song “Every Angel,” from the Push Stars’ 2004 album Paint the Town (33rd Street), appears in the film version of The Devil Wears Prada, starring Meryl Streep, which opens June 30. Meanwhile, Trapper begins recording his third solo effort in mid-June with producer Brad Young in Needham. ROB THOMAS of Matchbook Twenty will produce and co-write a song, and Trapper will be backed by both the Push Stars and Canadian Celt rockers Great Big Sea, whose platinum album Sea of No Cares (Zoë) Trapper co-wrote. “My theme right now is going to be creating a mixtape vibe for the record,” says Trapper. Working titles include “Yearning to Be Burning,” “Wish I Was Cool,” and “In from the Outside,” which he’ll send to St. Johns, Newfoundland so the members of Great Big Sea can add their parts. “I would describe the CD as eclectic/moody pop music versus the traditional jazz meets pop/rock of my last CD,” says Trapper. Trapper performs two shows at Club Passim this Saturday, June 3, before setting out for select dates across the country this summer.
