Lady Lamb weans a full-length album

THAT'S A GREAT SEGUE BECAUSE MY NEXT QUESTION WAS ABOUT THE VIDEO. IT'S DIRECTED BY DAVID MEIKLEJOHN, RIGHT? Yeah.

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE PROCESS OF WORKING WITH HIM? I mean, he's phenomenal. He's just completely amazing and I adore him. I can sit with my friends in Portland and gush about him all day. Sonya Tomlinson, for one, and Therese Workman (ed: Meiklejohn directed Sontiago's "Muscle Car" in 2012). And then my friends Frontier Ruckus (from Michigan) who he just did two videos for. My first experience working with him was actually two summers ago. He asked me to act in this short film he made for the series Damnationland. He made this movie called Forgiveness, and that was my first experience really acting. It was a real challenge for me because I usually prefer to be on the other side of the camera, but he's such a patient, professional, and effective filmmaker, and he made me feel really comfortable. I've known all along that I wanted to have him make a video for this record. I called him up and said, Truth is, I don't really have a budget. I don't have any money. And he just said Don't even worry about it. And so he and Ryan Jarochym, who is also phenomenal, spent a weekend here and we just knocked it out. And the video came out so fucking good. I'm so excited to premiere it. If I could do a video with David for every song, I would.

YOU SAID YOU'VE COME UP WITH THE CONCEPTS FOR YOUR ALBUM ART, VIDEOS, AND PRESS PHOTOS. IS THAT SOMETHING YOU'VE HAD TO WRESTLE FOR SINCE SIGNING TO A LABEL? DO THEY LET YOU DO YOUR OWN THING? At the risk of sounding like a complete diva, I don't think I could work with people that didn't let me do my own thing. I'm really lucky that everyone on my team is so supportive and really trusts my taste. It's been really nice to say Okay guys, here are the new press photos. I'm like, messed up with pie, I hope you like it! Or being like, Okay, here's my video idea, it's really really weird! I'm not gonna tell you that much about it, but I'll send you the link! Honestly, I could not be in a situation where people were trying to tell me what to do or look like. That would not work for me.
