What’s is your current favorite Taking Back Sunday song?
Well, the one that we’ve been playing live that I like a lot is “Liar [It Takes One To Know One],” and the one that we haven’t yet played live is the last song on Louder Now called “I’ll Let You Live.” I think that song is one that I’m really glad that we tried out for the record because I think that it’s one we wouldn’t have attempted to do in the past. It’s a very slow and very heavy, dark song. Those two are my favorites.
Are you planning to play it live?
I’m sure we’ll play it at some point, but for what we’ve been rehearsing for this upcoming tour we haven’t been including it in the set list.
What do you think of the whole Internet phenomenon and how it’s helped bands to self-promote? Has it given you a huge boost?
I think so. It’s hard for any band to say it hasn’t. That’s how people find out about everything these days, you know? I feel like our band existed just before it, and during the mega-presence of it. But there are bands these days that can put their EP on their MySpace [page], and have 50,000 fans while having never gotten in the van and gone on tour. It can sort of backfire on you because when you do go out on tour, you think you’ve got all these people that are dying to hear you, and, really, all they did was click on your song, and drag it on over to their MySpace [profile] because they liked it. They may not be really invested in you at all. I think our band, from spending so much time on tour, going through the country and around the world over and over again – because that’s what we like to do, and that’s why people come see us – we’ve built it up over time in a real gradual and natural sort of way that makes us a very self-sufficient band. If the Internet disappears tomorrow, we’ll still be able to go on tour. People will still come and see us.
