GU 10
A three-disc primer on the state of house, trance, and techno, GU 10 comes courtesy of one of dance music’s most advanced and prescient labels. Over the past decade the folks at Global Underground have delivered the best Danny Tenaglia CDs as well as work by Underworld, Steve Lawler, Laurent Garnier, and Samder Kleinenberg. The three CDs here feature all of the above and many more obscure tracks of equal worth. Highlights? Lustral’s “Everytime,” Kleinenberg’s “Sacred,” Miss Kittin’s “Frank Sinatra,” Danny Tenaglia’s “Turn Me On,” De Melero’s “Night Moves,” Lostep’s “The Roots,” Reese Project’s “Colour of Love,” Ralphi Rosario’s “U Used To Hold Me,” many more. Given the variety of styles, from lusciously vocal to sharply electronic and every gradation in between, it’s impossible not to come away with a whole handful of favorites in this unending underground of catchy ecstasies.
