Tanya’s new Life

By BOB GULLA  |  February 14, 2007

In Threes
Congratulations are certainly in order for BILL HARLEY, who won a Grammy on February 11. His Blah Blah Blah: Stories About Clams, Swamp Monsters, Pirates and Dogs garnered the award for Best Spoken Word Album for Kids. He’d been nominated twice before and we guess the third time’s a charm. Way to keep them stories comin’, Bill. Duke Robillard, a nominee in the Traditional Blues Recording category for Guitar Groove-a-Rama, didn’t come away with a victory, but it’s only his first try. And besides, we’re thinking he enjoyed some pretty good parties in the Grammy process.

On Saturday, ED MCGUIRL and JOHN FUZEK play Brewed Awakenings in South County Commons Wakefield, while at the Brewed Awakenings in Johnston, it’s JOANNE LURGIO and MARK CUTLER.

Now that the idea that summer has come to a close has set in, it’s time to start thinking about what there is to look forward to this fall.

Heaven-sent and handmade, the Low Anthem’s new disc descends on its listeners like a paper airplane, wobbling lightly on the breeze.

It’s a big deal when Someday Providence gets new music out. Their new EP extends the band’s dedication to breezy pop, but also adds depth, dimension, and a wee bit of heaviness.
