Sibilance starts now

CHRISTOPHER TERET is looking to go to Cuba (like seemingly every Maine musician nowadays — we’ll give MARK KLEINHAUT and BRAD TERRY credit for starting the trend). He’ll be traveling with VENCEREMOS BRIGADE, and is trying to raise funds with a gig May 12 at JAY YORK’S LAST CHURCH ON THE LEFT, at 58 Wilmot Street in Portland. He’ll be joined on the bill with MICAH BLUE SMALDONE and KELLY NESBITT. Cuba needs all the help it can get, so help Teret find his way down there.

Former WMPG office manager DJ MINDWRECKER has launched a Maine version of YouTube at www.portlandmaine.tv. He says it’s designed to give Mainers “a media outlet to display and watch all that Maine has to offer.” As you’d expect, it’s free to join, watch, and upload content. The site is live right now, but Mindwrecker says to expect upgrades to come hot and heavy over the next couple months.
 
JOE BRIEN has launched an ingenious new business called RECORD IN MAINE, where he finds quaint Maine recording spaces throughout the state for people looking for a little bit of Pine Tree State atmosphere to support their next album. It’s a well known fact, actually, that the older the farm house is you’re recording in, the better you sound. That’s why all those Brit rockers sound so good.
