Johnny lingo
Is Johnny Lingo Providence’s own Ben Folds? By the sound of his new disc, Shake It Off, yeah, pretty much. Lingo is a talented, rhythmic pianist with pointed, personal lyrics and quirky, melodic hooks. Lingo, formerly of the acclaimed dance rockers the Lingo, boasts a fresh sound on tunes that are frank and evocative, with skilled accompaniment by members of Neo Nouveau and Zox. You can catch his act at f.y.e at Warwick Mall, where he’s performing today (the 4th) at the last installment of the “Play Warwick” series. Winners get a 12-song recording deal with Whitenoise Records, including recording, mixing, mastering, and production.
