On Friday, it’s THECHILI BROTHERS comin’ at ya with their Crescent City funk at Peeptoad Coffeehouse at the North Foster Baptist Church, 81 East Killingly Road, Foster, at 8 pm. On Saturday at the Blackstone River Theatre, 549 Broad Street, Cumberland, it’s THE SUPERCHIEF TRIO bringing their own inimitable brand of New Orleans party tunes. Call 401.726.2181. On Sunday afternoon, the DIXIE DIEHARDS JAZZ BAND featuring guest MARIA VENTURA will hit the stage. PHX readers will know Ventura from her solo material and her female vox award last year. On Friday, February 8, CHINESE STARS, AWESOME BROTHERS, and THE BLACK CLOUDS rock Firehouse 13, 41 Central Street, Providence. Call 401.270.1801. GRAVITY WORKS has been off for a while, but they’ve reactivated things with new drummer stud Joe Jannerelli from Fungus Amungus. There’s a lot happening at the Liberty Elm Diner, 777 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, this weekend. It starts Saturday with the latest rendition of “Your Roots Are Showing.” This month it’s MIKE MACDONALD & THE WIDOW MAKERS, CASSAVETTES, and host band LUCKY 57. Doors open at 8 pm and music kicks off at 9 pm. Seating is limited. On Sunday morning, PHIL EDMONDS, OTIS READ, AND JIM TULL bring their eclectic sounds to the breakfast club in the 11 am to 1 pm slot. While you’re at the diner, pay special attention to the walls.
