In a summer that’s already shaping up to be a good one for local hip-hop, the biggest release may come from LABSEVEN, who’ll drop the follow-up to 2006’s excellent North Winds August 16.
AS FAST AS have been busy. They release the I Really Like Your Girlfriend EP July 18 and 19 with a pair of shows and a whole bunch of Internet download intricacy. Basically, you go to WCYY’s site, grab some free AFA songs, then get a code and e-mail that code (to the e-mail address you found in their album materials, since you already bought it) to AFA and get another free song back (the “Girlfriend” one). Just do it. It’s fun. It’s the Internet.
MARIA MORESHEAD has released an EP on ROADSIDE MANNA RECORDS called The Distraction EP (EPs all over the place right now). We haven’t heard it yet, but our boy BOB MCKILLOP calls it “innocent and worldly at the same time.” Check it out for yourself when she plays July 19 at Blue.
